As she read Meghan’s text, Trisha shook her head.

“@Meghan. Bring on this smart and handsome man, let’s find out who he is. LOL”

She put her phone on the nightstand and checked her hair and makeup one more time. As soon as she had applied some more mascara, she donned her black lace dress. “I think shapewear is the best invention ever,” she told her mirror complexion. Trisha smoothed her dress and checked to see if her gold clutch contained everything she needed.  “Time to go,” she mumbled to herself.

Wedding Couple

Watching the bride and groom kiss reminded her of her wedding day. She looked at her left hand which was bare now. She donated the funds from the sale of her wedding ring to charity after her divorce.

“It was a wonderful ceremony, don’t you think so?” Fan looked dreamy at the Altar. “They looked so happy as they walked away from the altar holding each other’s hand,” Fan continued.

Yes, it indeed was” said Trisha and nodded her head. “April looks gorgeous, don’t you think so? I love the lace veil.”

“She certainly does.” Meera smiled at her. “I am so happy you came and she squeezed her friend’s hand.”

Trisha smiled at Meera, “so do I”.

Champagne

After the ceremony, the wedding guests were invited to have a glass of champagne with the bride and groom. The wedding couple mingled with their guest giving each guest their attention. As Trisha was sipping her champagne, she listened to her friends, Fan and Meera who were talking about their children. She felt the sun warming her chocolate-coloured skin and closed her eyes for a second, realizing that the champagne had made her a little tipsy.

“Sorry Trish,” said Fan. “I feel like we are keeping you out of the conversation.”

“Ooh, you are not!  I love listening to your stories. Please continue. They might come in handy one day,” she said with a smile.

“Pfff,  I cannot wait till I am due,” said Meera. I don’t know why I got myself into this situation for the third time.”

“What situation?” said her husband who came back with a tray of drinks.

“This situation,” said Meera. As she pointed to her baby bump.

“Two more months baby, hang in there,” he said to his wife and handed her a glass of orange juice.

Blind Date

“Hi, guys are you enjoying yourselves?” It was Meghan holding a glass of water in her hand.  “I am so happy that you all could come. We don’t see each other that much anymore.” She looked at her friends. “I wish we could see each other more often. But anyways I am so happy that you guys could come!” She raised her glass “To our friendship.”

The friends raised their glasses with a big smile. “To our friendship”.

“Trish, your blind date hasn’t arrived yet. I don’t know who he is or how he looks, but from what I heard, he is quite a catch.”

Meera and Fan raised their eyebrows. “Trish, needless to say, but we are excited for you,” said Meera with a big smile.
